Putting People First
For too long Adams County has gotten less than it deserves. A strong, vibrant community with hard working people, we’ve long been the afterthought of the metro area, and it’s time for that to stop. Adams County is poised for something different but only if we have the right leadership. We need the high paying jobs from the new energy economy, strong partnerships with Colorado State and Front range Community College, and transportation infrastructure to stimulate our economy. Adams County has an opportunity to be the gateway to the northern front range, but we must have the right vision leaders to get the job done. As Thornton Mayor I’ve already stood up to special interests and fought for the money we deserve for Fastracks and our failing bridges. As your next County Commissioner, I will work even harder to make sure that Adams County gets our fair share.
Job Creation
Adams County has the highest unemployment rate in the metro area, 9.6% as of January, and as your next County Commissioner I will make job creation and economic development my top priority. As a business owner and successful tech startup executive, I understand what it takes to bring good paying jobs to Adams County.
Responsible Spending
Our county currently spends $58 million more than it did two years ago but brings in $14 million less. This kind of out of control spending is not sustainable, and we must preserve a stable financial future for our children and grandchildren. We need to live within our means, and we can’t continue to rely on short term tricks like stimulus money to fill our budget holes. We’ve balanced every budget in Thornton I’ve been a part of as a Councilmember and Mayor, and as your next County Commissioner I want to cut government waste and bring some sanity to our budget.
